About this map and its data
Happy hours change without notice. Treat everything here as a strong hint, not a promise: confirm the hours and the prices with the venue before you go, especially on holidays, during events, and for anything described as running until close.
What is on this map
Vancouver happy-hour listings collected from published sources. Coverage is incomplete: a restaurant missing from the map may still have a happy hour. Check the listing’s dates, sources and uncertainty labels before visiting.
How the data was gathered
The catalogue contains venue websites, menus, social accounts and local happy-hour listings as evidence. Recorded checking dates describe earlier reviews, not a guarantee that every menu is current today. Some listings lack structured opening hours or linked offer times; those gaps are shown in the app. Open a venue’s source links to check the original information.
Where two sources disagree, the app says so rather than choosing a winner: the venue is flagged and both claims are shown with both links. Where a source gave a time only as "until close" or "from open", the app shows exactly that instead of inventing a clock time, and marks the value as an estimate. Where a listing could not be re-verified on the last pass, it is marked as unverified rather than deleted or presented as current.
Confidence
High, medium and low describe the evidence recorded during the listing review. Primary venue evidence receives more weight than indirect or conflicting sources. Confidence is separate from freshness: even a high-confidence listing can change. Confirm unclear times and prices with the venue.
Sources and licences
- Venue websites, venue menus and venue social accounts, plus dated local happy hour listings. The links are on each venue's detail view.
- Building footprints, streets, parks, water and trees from OpenStreetMap. Map data is copyright OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL).
- Building heights, street centrelines, park and tree data from the City of Vancouver Open Data Portal, containing information licensed under the Open Government Licence - Vancouver.
- Building heights are approximate. The City's height dataset predates several newer towers, so some heights are estimated from floor counts and some are hand-corrected. The model is a stylised aid to orientation, not a survey.
Distances
Near me asks for your location only when you choose it. Distances are approximate straight-line measurements, not walking routes. Discovery uses your starting point for this session. Saving an outing can also save its starting point on this device. Clear location removes both; My outing also has a control to remove its saved starting point. Shared outing links omit your starting point. Use Directions to check an actual route.
Privacy
Discovery favourites, notes, visits and the shortlist stay in this browser unless a shared backend is configured for the group. The restaurant pilot separately stores offer claims, staff redemptions and imported check records. It does not receive your private outing notes. Read the pilot’s privacy and retention details.
